Effect of Manure Dosage and Gibberellin (GA₃) Concentration on the Growth and Yield of Bitter Melon (Momordica charantia L.)

Abstract
his study aimed to: (1) determine the effect of manure dosage on the growth and yield of bitter melon plants;
(2) determine the effect of gibberellin (GA₃) concentration on the growth and yield of bitter melon; and (3)
identify the interaction between manure dosage and gibberellin concentration on the growth and yield of bitter
melon (Momordica charantia L.). The research was conducted in Songing Village, South Sinjai District, Sinjai
Regency, from March to May 2024. The study employed a two-factor factorial design arranged in a Randomized
Block Design (RBD). The first factor was manure dosage (A), and the second was gibberellin concentration
(G), with 16 treatment combinations and 3 replications each, totaling 48 experimental units. Each plot
consisted of 4 plants, with 2 sample plants, totaling 192 plants. The results showed that a manure dosage of 4
kg/plot significantly increased the number of leaves, flowering speed, fruit number, fruit length, and fruit
weight. The application of gibberellin at 60 ml/L gave the best results in terms of the number of leaves, flowering
speed, fruit number, and fruit length. The interaction between manure and gibberellin showed the best effect
on fruit number, fruit length, and fruit weight.
