Implementation of Interactive Media Education Program to Prevent Sexual Harassment and Bullying on Children in Kampung Pemulung, Jakarta

Abstract

Sexual harassment and bullying are serious issues that threaten the welfare of children, especially in environments with high socio-economic vulnerability such as Kampung Pemulung. Children from these communities often lack access to adequate education on how to protect themselves from harassment and bullying. This research aims to develop and implement an interactive media-based educational program as an effort to prevent sexual harassment and bullying on children in Kampung Pemulung. The approach used is an action research method with active participation from children and parents which were analysed by Social Influence Theory. The interactive media used are educational games, animated videos, and interactive storybooks designed to increase children's understanding of the concept of a safe body, how to say "no," and steps they can take when facing risky situations. The results of implementation show an increase in children's understanding of sexual harassment and bullying, as well as an increase in their courage in reporting suspicious incidents. These findings indicate that the use of interactive media as an educational tool can be an effective solution in providing preventive education regarding harassment and bullying. It is hoped that this program can be adopted by other communities with similar characteristics to help protect children from the threat of violence and harassment in their environment.
